What speeds can I expect?

Great question! On a Pentanet Fixed Wireless service, you can generally expect to receive 100% of your service speed, even during peak times (yes - really!).

On a Pentanet NBN or LBN estate service, you can generally expect to hit around 80-100% of your service speed during peak periods - factors that affect this can include congestion or loads on these networks that is outside of Pentanet’s control.

To make sure that we’re consistently and reliably delivering the speeds that we promise, we undertake regular, automated performance monitoring of our network, using testing endpoints that are located inside of real customer connections.

While we’ll always advertise our typical evening speeds for these services on the relevant plan page on our website, lots of factors might affect the speeds you see when measuring the speed of your service - including the demand on the service or website you’re accessing and where that service is hosted.

In particular, keep in mind that the speed and quality of service you’ll receive when access your service via Wi-Fi in your home is dependant on the equipment being used in your home - the Pentanet service itself is delivered to your home as a wired service and any measurement of the service should be done using a direct PPPoE connection to your Pentanet service.

If the speeds delivered to while cabled in are as expected but your service is slow over Wi-Fi, you may like to check out our tips to optimise your connection here: https://pentanet.com.au/help-centre/optimise-wifi/

If you consistently aren’t able to achieve your expected service speeds, please reach out to our team for further support and we’ll be happy to take a look for you.
