What happens when I exceed my data allowance?

If you exceed your data allowance, your connection speed will be ‘shaped’ (slowed-down) to a speed of 512Kbps / 256Kbps for both the on-peak and the off-peak remainder of your billing cycle. Billing cycles generally reset on the first of the month.

Why do we shape users? Why not make all the plans unlimited?

Several of our NBN plans are unlimited should you have the need for a high amount of data. Please note that our fair use policy applies for all plans and can be found https://pentanet.com.au/additional-resources

We shape heavy users so that we can ensure a consistent and reliable network that runs smoothly and is free of congestion from heavy users.

Data caps help ensure that users are conscientious about the load that they place on the network. For users who require more data, we offer plans with higher quotas at a higher price, which allows us to pay for the extra capacity required by these users without increasing the price of plans across the board.

I’ve gone over my quota accidentally. Can I get more data?

Sure! We understand that sometimes, life happens, and a large game download or update uses more data than you were expecting.

Please log in to our portal at https://my.pentanet.com.au/ to add a data pack or hop on the online chat and someone can assist you with a plan change.
