Setup guide: Telstra Smart Gateway Gen 2/Gen 4

Setting up your Telstra Smart Gateway (Gen 2 or Gen 4) for a Pentanet service is quick and easy! Here’s how.

Before you begin: You’ll need to know your Pentanet PPPoE username and password, which are supplied to you in your welcome email from Pentanet. You can also locate these in your customer portal. If you’re unsure about your PPPoE credentials, please reach out to our friendly, local support team.

Ready? Let’s go!

1. Connect your device to the WiFi or ethernet port of the Telstra Smart Gateway device, and connect the Smart Gateway Device’s WAN port to your Pentanet service.
2. In your device’s browser, enter in the address: http://192.168.0.1.
3. Log in to the Telstra Smart Gateway device using the username: admin and the password: Telstra. (Note that if you’ve previously set up different credentials and can’t remember them, you may need to factory reset the device.)
4. Select the ‘Broadband’ item in the top menu, and enter in your PPPoE username and password (exactly as provided to you - it’s case sensitive!) in the following section: Telstra Smart Gateway Gen 2: Telstra Smart Gateway Gen 4:
5. Click ‘Save’ or ‘Apply’, and that’s it!
