Here’s how to set up your Technicolour TG-789 Modem/Router for a Fixed Wireless or Ethernet WAN service on the Pentanet network. Let’s go!
Plug in the power adaptor and power on the device. Need help with plugging in? Click here.
Use the supplied ethernet cable to connect your computer to one of the yellow LAN ports, and connect your Pentanet service to the blue Ethernet WAN port. You can also connect wirelessly, but we recommend using an ethernet connection.
Open a web browser and browse to http://10.1.1.1. You will see the below login screen and can use the below details:
Follow the Setup Wizard
Setup Wizard Step 1 If you have a Pentanet Fixed Wireless, NBN HFC or NBN FTTP service (ethernet connection type), please select “ethernet WAN” in the “WAN Interfaces” dropdown. For NBN FTTN or FTTB services (RJ11 phone socket connection type), please select ‘VDSL’.
Setup Wizard Step 2 Select 'I don’t have VOIP’ If you have a VoIP phone from a third party provider, we still recommend selecting ‘I don’t have VoIP”, and setting this up in the Telephony Section later, after the service is connected.
Setup Wizard Step 3 - Set 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Network Name This will be the name of your Wi-Fi and will be visible to guests and possibly even neighbours!
Setup Wizard Step 4 - Set 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Password
Setup Wizard Step 5 - Set 5GHz Wi-Fi Network Name This will be the name of your Wi-Fi and will be visible to guests and possibly even neighbours!
Setup Wizard Step 6 - Set 5GHz Wi-Fi Password
Setup Wizard Step 7 - Security In this step, you can change the administrator login for your device (the credentials you used in #2). If you change this, please write it down safely. If you misplace this password, you will need to factory reset the device and follow this process again.
Setup Wizard Step 8 - Summary Check through all the settings and click Finish when completed. Give the router a around 15 minutes to stabilise and connect.
You can now enjoy your superfast Pentanet internet connection to stream, browse, and game online.
Note: The Technicolor TG789 has two Wi-Fi networks which broadcast on different frequencies - 2.4GHz and 5GHz. 5GHz can reach faster speeds, but doesn’t penetrate walls well. 2.4GHz travels farther, but often won’t be as fast. We recommend using the 5GHz network when you’re nearby the unit, or the 2.4GHz if you’re in a different room or further away.
